When cooking enthusiasts walk into Our Cooking Classes in Rishikesh, they’re usually reaching us by foot from the streets of Tapovan, Rishikesh—they normally choose to visit us in the late morning so that that they can enjoy the Lunch ( midday meal ) after cooking.
I always see on their face that carry a kind of excitement, eagerness to learn traditional Indian cooking. That’s why I start gently—with a calming pace, Ayurvedic-inspired drink like tea. Or Tulsi tea, local herbal flower water, or something cooling with mint etc. I as chef, always find that a simple refreshment helps everyone to be ready for cooking adventure. You, as learner, can feel the shift of the energy from outer self to inner self .
To me, the food is more than something we eat—it’s kind of ever lasting memory, emotion, and connection with divine. That’s the experience I try to share with our learners in each session of cooking. I don’t just follow recipes as you selected from our menu but i teach you the cooking with awareness, and we cook together. Some of our favorite recipes are very simple, making traditional Indian dishes mouth watering like seasonal vegetable, fresh Besan or Sooji Chilla, or soft Tawa Roti made with organic wheat flour.

I take you in every details step-by-step, but what makes my cooking class special is the questions & answer, the eagerness, and the importance of cooking taking reference from the traditional recipes like about spices from home, or dishes from our grandparents made.
One of my favorite parts of class is talking about the importance of the food in Vaishnava tradition. It’s small, but very meaningful to life we live now. Picking fresh curry leaves straight from growing place that reminds us how close food is to the earth. When cooking enthusiastic seeing and experiencing the fresh leaves are sizzling in a hot pan they just picked, their faces light up with emotion and connection. And what you really feel the connection with nature—between you soil, sun, water, spice, and spirit.
When cooking class over, you sit down to take the food, is something beautiful happens to life. Your table does not only fill with food—but also with conversations, knowledge, Insight and feeling of peace. Some participants say, “I never experienced such taste in my life before,” or “I didn’t know cooking could make me feel like this.”
